The ostomy collection bag PROTEA VITAL VITAL F13-57-1 consists of several layers (films or foils) that are welded along the perimeter, as follows:
- The ostomy flange is an adhesive plate to secure an ostomy pouch to the body. Some ostomy flanges come attached to the pouch as a one-piece system. Other pouches can be removed from the flange on the body as part of a two piece system. The flange is made of hydrocolloid material. The flange has an opening that surrounds the stoma. It ensures the attachment of the entire pouch to the patient’s abdominal area, respectively to the perimeter area of the stoma.
- In case of two-piece ostomy system, in addition to those described above, it has a plastic coupling ring which connects the flange and the bag together, making it easy to unsnap and discard the pouch, while the flange remains in position.
